General Atlantic is leading a $325 million Series E funding round for Avant, a Chicago-based online consumer lender that was formerly known as AvantCredit.
New York City-based online farmers' market Farmigo has secured $16 million in Series B funding. Formation 8 Partners led the round with participation from return backers Benchmark Capital and Sherbrooke Capital.
San Mateo, California-based Cloud Lending Solutions, a provider of online lending software, has secured $8 million in Series A funding. SF Capital Group led the round with participation from Cota Capital, Long Light Capital, Green Visor and Epic Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Neil Wolfson, president at SF Capital Group, has been added to Cloud Lending Solutions’ board of directors.
Toronto-based drug discovery company Encycle Therapeutics has closed C$2.85 million in funding. The investors were Takeda Ventures Inc, Accel-Rx Health Sciences Accelerator, BDC Capital and MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund. Encycle is a University of Toronto spin-out.
Kontexto, a portfolio company of Spectral Capital Corp, is shutting down Wednesday. Formerly based in Ontario, Canada, Kontexto was a provider of software and services that helped manage real-time streaming data.
Denver-based retail shopping app Ibotta has secured $40 million in Series C funding. Jim Clark led the round.
Eugene, Oregon-based customer verification solution SheerID has raised $5.3 million in funding. Voyager Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Arnold Venture Group.
IBM has acquired Meteorix, a provider of workday implementation, optimization and integration services for mid-market companies. No financial terms were disclosed. Clearsight Advisors advised Meteorix on the transaction. Meteorix was backed by Momentum Equity Partners.
UK-based NowWeComply, a provider of cloud-based governance, risk and compliance solutions, has raised $1.2 million in pre-Series A funding. AngelLab, in partnership with London Mayor Boris Johnson's initiative, the London Co Investment Fund, provided the backing. In addition to the funding, the company has relocated its headquarters in London.
Santa Monica, California-based uBeam, a wireless power company, has named Jeff Devine as COO and Monica Hushen as CFO. Most recently, Devine worked at Cisco where he served as vice president of supply chain management while Hushen oversaw finance for Palm’s global operations. UBeam's backers include Upfront Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Ludlow Ventures, Mark Cuban, Marissa Mayer and Tony Hsieh.
