FCC’s Hundt Signs With Benchmark –

MENLO PARK, Calif. – Benchmark Capital in late October added former Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Reed Hundt as a venture partner.

Mr. Hundt, who will be based in suburban Washington, D.C., will work for the firm on a part-time basis helping evaluate deals and taking board seats, said General Partner Andy Rachleff.

Mr. Hundt led the FCC from 1993 through 1997 and has been a telecommunications consultant since then. He was formerly a partner in Washington, D.C., law firm Latham & Watkins. Benchmark was attracted to Mr. Hundt for his judgment and leadership, as well as to his knowledge of the telecommunications-services business, Mr. Rachleff said.
