PRESS RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC – The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) today announced the appointment of Stephanie Volk as Vice President of Development effective immediately. Volk comes to NVCA from GE Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of GE, where she served as Manager, Commercial Development. With Volk’s appointment, NVCA expands its West Coast presence as Volk joins Maryam Haque, Vice President of Research and Strategic Engagement, in NVCA’s San Francisco/Palo Alto offices, which were established in June 2017.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Stephanie to the NVCA team. Her background developing partnerships within the venture community and building resources for startups coupled with significant business, marketing and economic development experience will be a huge asset to NVCA,” said Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of NVCA. “Her deep expertise in the venture industry gained from her time working at GE Ventures will be critical to NVCA as we continue our ongoing efforts to better serve the venture community, startups and entrepreneurs. We are thrilled to add someone as dynamic and passionate as Stephanie to push our membership and partnership efforts to new heights.”
At GE Ventures, Volk led efforts to design, launch and expand GE Ventures’ platform for helping its portfolio companies build and grow through expertise, programs, resources and relationships. Volk also supported strategic initiatives aimed at cultivating partnerships within the venture capital community across the country. Prior to joining GE Ventures, Stephanie began her career working on education reform and economic development initiatives for the city of New York under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In 2012, she joined GE’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program (ECLP), contributing to strategic marketing, new market development, and sales enablement efforts within GE Capital and GE Digital. Volk earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Columbia University and her MBA and Master of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan.
