Electric, a platform that provides an automated, intelligent IT support solution for small and midsized corporate customers, has raised $9.3 million in Series A funding. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round with participation from Bowery Capital and Primary Venture Partners. In addition to the funding, Bob Goodman from Bessemer will be joining Electric's board of directors.
Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) has made a US$20 million commitment to Fundamentum's debut growth fund. The target is US$100 million. Fundamentum Partnership-Fund I will focus on investing in India-based consumer and enterprise technology startups. The fund is expected to invest up to an average of US$15 million per company. Along with providing capital to the growth fund, CDPQ will explore making direct investments in portfolio companies. Fundamentum is based in Bangalore.
Belgium-based Cubigo, a cloud-based platform provider for the senior living market, has raised $4.5 million in Series A funding. Urbain Vandeurzen led the round with participation from Transvision.
Wondery, a podcast network, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. Greycroft’s Alan Patricof, Lerer Hippeau and Advancit Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included BAM Ventures, Water Tower Ventures, Fox Networks Group and BDMI.
U.S. Venture Partners is seeking to raise $300 million for its 12th fund, according to an SEC listing. The Silicon Valley-based venture firm invests in information technology and healthcare.
San Francisco-based Tempest Therapeutics, a biotechnology company, has closed $70 million in Series B financing. The investors included Versant Ventures, F-Prime Capital Partners, Quan Capital, Lilly Asia Ventures, Foresite Capital and Eight Roads Ventures.
Scotty Labs, which is working on technology to enable people to remotely control self-driving cars, has raised $6 million in seed funding, according to a post by its CEO. Google's AI-focused fund Gradient Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Horizons Ventures, Hemi Ventures, Social+Capital and Neuron.vc.
Austin, Texas-based Genprex Inc, a developer of immunogene therapy for non-small cell lung cancer, has raised $6.4 million for its IPO after pricing its 1.28 million shares at $5 per share. The stock began trading March 29, 2018 on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "GNPX." Network 1 Financial Securities Inc was the sole bookrunner. Genprex's pre-IPO backers include Inception Capital Management.
Tech Valley, the big data technology and application service provider, has raised over $3.19 million in its Series A financing. CRRC-Times Fund and Green Pine Colorful Dream led the round.
Branch International, an emerging markets finance app, has raised $70 million in Series B funding. The investors included CreditEase, International Finance Corporation, Andreessen Horowitz, Trinity Ventures and Victory Park.
