Tampa, Florida-based SAM Labs, a provider of tech education products, has raised $8.9 million in funding. The investors included Partners in Equity and Inventures Investment Partners.
San Diego-based Trefoil Therapeutics, a biotech firm, has secured $28 million in financing. Bios Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included Access Biotechnology, Hatteras Venture Partners, Aju IB Investment, Correlation Ventures, ExSight Ventures and InFocus Capital Partners.
Miami-based Neocis Inc, a provider of a robot-assisted surgical platform for the dental industry, has secured $30 million in financing. The investors included Mithril Capital Management and Norwest Venture Partners. In addition to the funding, Dr. Robert Mittendorff, a partner at Norwest Venture Partners, will join the Neocis board of directors.
Salt Lake City-based Recursion Pharmaceuticals, a next-gen biopharma company, has secured $121 million in Series C financing. Baillie Gifford’s flagship investment trust Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC led the round.
Echo Health Ventures has named Jonathan R. Eide as chief operating officer and Karim Botros as managing partner. Prior to joining EHV, Eide was a partner at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson while Botros worked as the chief strategy and innovation officer at Cleveland-based MetroHealth System.

Jane Technologies Inc, a creator of an online cannabis marketplace, has secured $21 million in Series B funding. Jane's investors include Gotham Green Partners, Pakala Jane Partners, Delta Emerald Ventures, Arcadian New Venture Fund, Queens Court Venture Partners and Tran Ventures.
The Arcview Group, a cannabis industry investor network, has secured $7.7 million in Series A funding. Trivergance Investments led the round in partnership with Cresco Capital Partners.
London-based Pixion Games, a studio focused on building competitive esports games for mobile devices, has raised $2 million in seed funding. Eldridge Industries led the round.
