Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Agent Capital, a biotech-focused venture firm, has raised $57.75 million for its initial fund, according to an SEC filing. The target is $150 million.
China-based venture firm Banyan Capital has changed its English name to Gaorong Capital. Gaorong Capital focuses on early and growth stage investments in TMT, including AI and frontier technologies, consumption and retail, fintech and enterprise services.
New York City-based Prevail Therapeutics Inc, a developer of gene therapies for patients with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, has named Dr. Francois Nader to its board of directors. Nader was the president, CEO and executive director of NPS Pharma. The investors included OrbiMed, Pontifax Fund, RA Capital Management, EcoR1 Capital, Omega Funds, BVF Partners LP, Boxer Capital LLC, Adage Capital Management LP and Alexandria Venture Investments.
Switzerland-based BRD, a bitcoin and cryptocurrency mobile wallet, has raised $32 million in funding. The investors included East Ventures.
Boston-based FairMarkIT, a tail spend management firm, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding. The investors included NewFund Capital, NewStack Ventures, MassVentures and VT Technology Ventures.
Rover.com, a network of pet sitters and dog walkers, has raised $125 million in funding. The investors included funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates Inc as well as Silicon Valley Bank, Winslow Capital, Cross Creek, TCV, Greenspring Associates and Spark Capital.
Los Angeles-based Surkus Inc, a provider of event technology, has secured $10 million in Series B funding. EOS.global was the lead investor.
Phenom People, a talent relationship marketing platform, has raised $22 million in Series B funding. AXA Venture Partners led the round with participation from Sierra Ventures, Sigma Prime Ventures and Omidyar Ventures.
UK-based Creolus, which is focused on building the plastics industry of tomorrow, is seeking to raise 60 million euros for its first bioplastics fund. 5Capital Fund Placements is advising Creolus on the fundraising.
London-based Wire Glasses, an eyewear startup, has secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding. The investor was True Ventures.
